Perfect Pitch Ear Training

Perfect Pitch Ear Training

What is perfect pitch and relative pitch?

Perfect pitch, simply put, is the ability to recognize a note or chord by ear if it is played. It is also called absolute pitch. Relative pitch is the ability to recognize the relationship between two notes.

What is the difference between perfect pitch and relative pitch?

Perfect pitch allows you to recognize a single note. Relative pitch allows you to recognize exactly how far apart two notes are. So if you walk into a room where a note is being played, relative pitch would allow you to know the note that had been played previously and the note that is being played as you entered the room.

Perfect pitch is more precise than relative pitch. With perfect pitch, you would know whether a C chord played was major or minor, whereas with relative pitch, you would only know that it is a C chord.

      The Old Idea

It is generally thought that perfect pitch and relative pitch cannot be taught and that you are either lucky enough to be born with these two skills or you are not. Many institutions believe this even to this very day, but more and more findings are suggesting that they can indeed be learned and perfected if the proper ear training is developed.  There are many methods that claim to be able to teach you how to obtain relative pitch and pure pitch, and many of these methods rely on ear training.

        Perfect Pitch Ear Training

Ear training actually has more to do with the brain than the ears. It consists of exercises that train your brain to recognize notes and chords when they are played. Audiation is a method that teaches you to hear the notes in your mind, and then assign the correct names to them. These practices help you train your inner ear and you will soon be able to visualize notes and chords in your brain. Soon you will be able to name notes when you hear them played back.

Absolute pitch ear training is a difficult method to master, but it is extremely effective and powerful. It allows you to embed a primary anchor note into your mind, and once this is done, you can name any subsequent notes based on that primary note. It requires great amounts of skill and concentration, but surprisingly it does not take years to master.

A few lessons in perfect pitch ear training are enough to get you started, but only once you complete the training will you be able to name all the chords and notes.

          Online courses

There are many training methods that teach you how to learn absolute pitch, and many of these can be found online. You may have to spend hundreds of dollars buying CD’s, books or tapes in the past. But now you can simply download all the instructions, guides and audio files you need on the internet so that you can browse through them at your own pace. Online courses are much cheaper than any other way of learning perfect pitch ear training.

Here is the best method I’ve found for perfect and relative pitch training:

            Essentials for Piano Beginners

            Essentials for Piano Beginners

The piano is a wonderful instrument to play and practically anyone who has their heart set on learning to play it is able to do so. While it’s true that some people are more musically gifted than others, it doesn’t mean that simply having an interest in the piano or wanting to learn it after hearing a particularly good piece of music isn’t enough of a reason to want to play. Just like all things in life, if you put time and effort into learning the piano, you will get better results.

Anyone who plays the piano will tell you that you need lots of patience, time, and commitment in order to learn and master this skill. But there are a few other things that you should keep in mind if you are a beginner at the piano.

Beginners should keep in mind that everyone has different speeds and styles in which they learn. What works for someone else may not work for you. So it’s important to decide how you want to learn and to determine your own pace for progress.

You need to find a good piano instructor, if you want private tuition. It’s important that you like your prospective tutor. If you dread the time of your piano lesson because you do not get along well with your teacher, you will not do well. Find an instructor you enjoy learning from and you will get good advice and have fun while learning.

If you don’t like having a set time for lessons, or having a tutor’s help, there are online piano lessons software that you can download that basically teach you the same things a teacher would. Find online lessons that are of a high standard. This method is best if you are self disciplined. Yes, you may be able to learn while in your pyjamas, but when it comes to reversing bad habits you have picked up that affect your piano playing, you’re on your own.

Many students need to learn how to read sheet music, but others can recognize and play notes by ear (Pitching). Find out which method works best for you and use it to improve your performance. You can also buy piano books found in bookstore or music shops or online.

Learning to play the piano isn’t all about lessons. If there is piano music you’re particularly fond of in a song or a movie, you will be able to find the sheet music for it online and you can see how well you play it.  With effort and dedication, you can start and end your piano lessons on a good note.

Pure Pitch Method Review. The best absolute and re...

Pure Pitch Method Review. The best absolute and relative pitch training tool.

Pitch learning is considered impossible by most people. Even music schools and universities all over the world claim that it cannot be taught, or learned, and that you are either born with it, or you are not. However, the creator of Pure Pitch Method dares to disagree, after having learned the skill through practice.

Absolute pitch, sometimes called perfect pitch, is the ability to be able to name a chord or musical note upon hearing it played. Relative pitch is the ability to hear and understand the relationship that exists between one note and another. It is a musical interval that exists between two notes.

The method of Pure Pitch is one that is extremely logical and is very different to other methods that you can find. This is a quick method that you won’t need years to master, and you can see (or rather, hear) results once you have had a few lessons.

The Pure Pitch Method relies on a new approach to ear training. It uses powerful exercises that are meant to train both absolute and relative pitch simultaneously. Audiation is a revolutionary new method that is also used to allow the student to start hearing the notes in their mind and then connect them to the names of the notes. The exercises help build up the inner ear and help you to visualize notes and chords in your mind.

It is a difficult method but it is incredibly effective and powerful. After the first few Pure Pitch Method lessons, you will be able to embed the primary anchor note in your mind and you will be able to name a few notes if they are played back.

This method is unique and effective because it focuses on building momentum. Learning a skill is not enough if you don’t see any progress. Learning absolute pitch requires a gradual progression of concentration and this method is perfect because you will start to see and hear constant improvement so you will know that you are actually making progress.

Is it too late to learn piano?

Is it too late to learn piano?

It’s quite common for parents to send their young children to piano lessons, perhaps hoping that their son or daughter will prove to be a protégé at the piano. Unfortunately, only very few children actually keep their interest in the piano at very young ages. It’s more towards a child’s teen years, with the influence of the music they listen to, that their interest in musical instruments peeks. But you might find that time has passed and you never got around to learning how to play the piano.

The good news is that not all is lost. As long as you are willing to learn, there’s nothing to stop you from being able to learn the piano. It’s not true that as you get older, it’s harder to pick up skills and remember them. In fact, it is as your brain grows older that you should be considering learning new skills, to help keep it active and ward off illnesses such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease later on in life.

First you should think about why you want to learn. Do you just want to fill up some free time, or do you want to see if you’re capable of becoming a masterful pianist? You should think about where you want your piano skills to end up, or you’ll never truly feel a sense of accomplishment when you achieve it.

If you’re worried about not having enough time in your day for piano lessons, then remember that the internet can always help you out. There are plenty of software programs online, like the Rocket Piano, that can teach you how to play the piano just as good as any tutor would, but at a fraction of the cost. This is ideal if you don’t know when you’ll be free. You can learn in your own time and home, and at your own pace.

With all these options available to you, it’s safe to assume that it’s never too late to learn the piano, and deciding to do so is only beneficial to you mental and emotional health.

If you’ve decided already, take a look at this amazing:
